We had such a great experience learning how to surf today with Zack! Highly recommend doing private lessons. He’s great at teaching/communication which made it really easy to learn. We also had the spot to ourselves which was a huge bonus. Mahalo Zack! 🤙🏼

Zack Howard Surf – perfect for complete beginners and families
We were on a family vacation in Maui and were complete beginners, including our 9-year-old child. Zack Howard Surf was absolutely the right choice.
We had 2 instructors for 4 surfers, which made a huge difference. The level of personal attention was excellent, instructions were clear, and safety was always a priority. Despite having no prior experience, we were able to ride a lot of waves, which honestly exceeded our expectations.
Every question was answered clearly and patiently. The instructors were encouraging, calm, and especially great with kids. You can tell they have a lot of experience teaching beginners and families — and that they genuinely enjoy what they do.
Great organization, solid equipment, and a relaxed, professional vibe. One of the highlights of our Maui trip. Highly recommended — we’d do it again in a heartbeat.

Zack was beyond amazing!! I booked a private lesson and absolutely had the most incredible time. He confirmed the day prior and asked enough questions to not only get me on the right board but also at the right location. He switched locations the day of to provide me a better experience and I have to say it was one of my favorite surf days ever. Got me out of my comfort zone and checked off a bucket list item of surfing in Paia! I’ve taken private lessons before and have never received an experience like this. He is definitely not charging what he could for the experience you get!!

We searched for a surf instructor that was affordable for our family of 5. Zack Hayward was perfect! They had a great rate and the instructor Cody was amazing! He was so patient and all the kids caught so many waves! Thanks for the amazing memories.

Just finished with a lesson with Zach for my 3 boys. They had an awesome time and thought Zach was a great teacher and loved hearing some of his stories. I do wish he would have had a board that fit my oldest though. When you reserve your time it asks for height and weight so I would have thought he would have a board that fit him appropriately. But I would still highly recommend him!!
