This is always our first stop when arriving to Maui.
Wven with time the quality is exceptional. Amazing coffee and some local cakes like Banana Bread, Poundcake.
They sell their own coffee beans.
Ambiance is elegant and beachy feel.
It has a lot of tables or bar stools where to sit and work while silling your coffee.
This time I ordered the Coconut Macaroon Hot Coffee. It was delicious. I felt like drinking a refreshing coconut but in coffee. You can also get it iced.
Everyone in the staff is so nice!

We first visited the Akamai Coffee location in Wailea at the beginning of our trip and enjoyed it so much that we decided to stop by the Kihei location before leaving Maui. What i liked the most was how consistent the coffee tasted between the two locations. Thatโs something I always pay attention to, and they did an excellent job.
The coffee is genuinely good, and you can tell they care about quality. The cappuccino was prepared at the perfect temperature, with great milk texture and beautiful latte art. Itโs clear they have skilled baristas behind the counter.
While the Kihei location doesnโt quite have the scenery and atmosphere of the Wailea shop, the coffee quality was exactly the same.
If youโre exploring Maui and happen to be near either location, you can feel confident that youโre getting a great cup of coffee. The Wailea location wins for views and setting, but both delivered excellent coffee and a well-made cappuccino.

I came here every morning during our stay in Kihei. There are so many good things about this place. Theyโre open early, the staff is friendly, the espresso drinks are amazing, they have a drive-thru. The Hawaiian Honeybee (with extra coconut for sweetness) and the Road to Hana drinks are top notch. I prefer a dark roast for my morning coffee, but their medium roast was pretty good. Their pastries are also really good especially the butter pound cake. Will definitely return when weโre in Maui!

The coffee was good, the turkey croissant was tasty but a flattened, and the ambiance felt open and bright with a good variety of seating options. The service was friendly and pleasant. If youโre in the area and want a coffee shop to sit and chat, Iโd put Akamai on your radar.

We had two great visits at Akamai Coffee when we were staying in Kihei last month. The family-owned coffee shop (there are three locations in Maui) serves coffee grown on Maui and roasted by Akamai. The Kihei location is spacious with ample seating in a warm, comfortable environment.
On our first visit, I had the Hawaiian Honeybee latte with espresso, honey, coconut, vanilla, and milk (oat for me). This was such a terrific drink and the perfect way to start the day. When we were there the first time, I knew we had to come back because I saw their fall seasonal menu had some good-looking choices.
On our second visit, I did have the Autumn Spice latte with cardamom, orang, cinnamon, espresso, and milk--it was like a warm hug. I could have that drink every day.
Service was terrific both times. There is a drive-thru here and they open at 6am, which is perfect for us early risers. If you want a bite, they offer pastries, toasts, bagels, wraps, and sandwiches. Definitely a five-star experience!
