Back in September 2023 reported issue of Tesla Powerwall+ not working correctly.
The issue is during daylight hours the battery will switch over to standby mode where we do not have use of energy until dark (about 6pm) For instance if we charge car or use dryer during the day solar energy may only provide 50% of energy needed it should pull remaining energy needed from battery but instead it pulls from the grid. This is when the battery is at 100%.
Two separate occasions Sep-Dec 2023 Haleakala Solar came out and attempted repairs. Throughout this time I reported approximately 20 to 30 emails with screenshots documenting issue and that issue was still occurring
I contacted battery bonus program to see if this could be an issue. And also to cancel the installation of program since Haleakala Solar never provided HECO proper documentation for HECO to validate data.. I had to fill out a form send it in to get this program canceled since Haleakala Solar wouldn’t. In December President Jim Whitcomb during phone call even admitted that Haleakala failed on their part getting the battery bonus program working and lack of service he assured me they would get it working. I asked Haleakala Solar several times could this issue be related to Battery program that was never successfully hooked up and I was assuring no.
Contacted Tesla after several long 15 to 20 minute phone calls with them plus numerous emails documenting issue back and forth. As of early December it's in Tesla Tier two tech support and their recommendation December 24, 2023 was “Further your advanced settings need to be changed to export everything as opposed to solar only. Please go to settings > powerwall scroll down to advanced settings> permission to export to change the setting. Which I emailed to Haleakala Solar and they never came out to try.
In late December conference call with Jim Whitcomb president and Mokihana Techical Lead at Haleakala Solar sent him screenshots of issue. Mokihana guessed it was low internet signal and they were to install a booster. I sent him Tesla’s recommendation. They never came out to try either fix.
From December to Feb to sent emails to Haleakala Solar documenting issue still occurring. And my new strategy was to find another solar company and bill Haleakala for its repair.
Several companies didn’t want to get involved in another’s mess.
2/14/24 Filed BBB complaint which they said responded “We are working on finding a solution to what is happening with the battery at Mr. Taylors house. I will contact out head electrician and the owner and see when the soonest we can get out there will be. “
2/23/24 Filed compliant with State of Hawaii DEPARTMENT OF COMMERCE AND CONSUMER AFFAIRS
3/1/24 Sent Haleakala Solar a registered letter including a demand to repair within 14 days or face legal action for breach of warranty.
8/2024. Still Haleakala Solar has not fixed the powerwall. Now they claim it's not defective. Although I have emails from the owner saying there is an issue. At this point he's given up and decided we'll be going to court.
Needless to say I’m sure when this is resolved I will never get any help from Haleakala Solar on any warranty service. It worth it though letting everyone know our experience and Haleakala Solar’s unbelievable poor service.

Don't be fool by smooth talking friendly sales guy. They come with a deal but once you sign the contract its all bad from there. They won't install on time and if there's any problems forget it. They will push you off for months for repair or blame it on something else. Had to post this under my friends account because I'm worried they wouldn't honor their warranty after reading the honest truth.

I have had a long relationship with Haleakala Solar and Roofing. I purchased a solar panel system for my Kihei home several years ago. The installation was quick and professional. Their employees are courteous, the installation and service personnel were very knowledgeable and efficient. Even the office staff is very professional, they always return my calls promptly and attend to any concerns or questions that I may have. I later purchased a new roof which was installed by Haleakala Solar and Roofing. A new solar hot water system with a panel was also purchased at the same time. I highly recommend Haleakala Solar to anyone wanting a quality product and great service. My electric bill is now almost non-existent and I couldn't be happier!

Had PV installed with Haleakala Solar 12 years ago and had a great experience with no issues. Wanted to add more panels and a battery and decided to give Haleakala another shot. Big Mistake! New Owner doesn’t seem to care much about the customer or their experience. Seems like I had an inexperienced crew working on my house. They left holes in my roof and on the outside of my house. Installed everything and just left not even checking that everything was functioning. Enphase and my Tesla Gateway were both not working properly leaving me with issues to sort out on my own. After months of anxiety and stress that I didn’t need, finally have everything fixed and working properly. Only thanks is to my project coordinator and the head electrician who were both amazing. The only reason I would recommend this company and can give 2 stars is because of them. I tried multiple times to speak with the owner and not once has he reached out to apologize or even try to help resolve any of my complaints.

UPDATE 2.7.2024:
Well, Haleakala Solar was finally able to come to my home and make the necessary roof repairs and water heater adjustments. All were completed quickly once on site. I was told there have been some management changes to alleviate customer concerns. I am now completely satisfied with the work performed by Haleakala Solar. I will now update to four stars. Can't give five due to the issues with the "old" management problems that I encountered.
I had a new solar water heater installed by Haleakala Solar. A few weeks after the install I realized there was damage to my brand new metal roof and an issue with the water heater itself. I sent messages to the salesman, left messages at the Maui office, submitted service requests, and an email to the Oahu office, all with NO response. Finally, months later I was able to talk to a person at the Maui location. A company representative came to my home, acknowledged the roof damage, and told me a tech would need to look at the water heater. That was over a month ago. I have yet to hear anything further from Haleakala Solar. Called their Maui office but no answer, as seems to be the norm, so I left a voicemail (Isaac?). Another week has passed, still no response. Guess my next step will be a formal complaint with RICO.
