The ambience is perfect with the most gorgeous view. For food, the guest favorites crusted Kanpachi and fish curry are the favorites for a reason - they are both must haves! For appetizers the fish collars were so unique and delicious, the ahi cru was so incredible and fresh. For dessert the banana nut crisp is wonderful. The black pearl is stunning and delicious. Great mocktails and cocktails as well. Mama’s Fish House is the kind of restaurant that epitomizes hospitality and welcome. We had a major issue during our meal (nothing related to the food) and Hana and the rest of the team absolutely bent over backwards to make our experience right. Truly they did everything in their power to fix the situation and make sure we had an amazing experience. I truly can’t describe how special and cared for they made us feel. Even if something goes wrong, Mama’s will absolutely make it right. Absolute fantastic experience not to be missed, please go!

If you are looking for the quintessential Maui dining experience, Mama’s Fish House is the gold standard. From the moment the valet greets you with a warm "Aloha," you realize this isn't just a meal—it’s a memory. Located on the secluded North Shore, the setting is breathtaking. The open-air dining room overlooks a private, palm-fringed cove (Kuʻau Bay). Whether you arrive for a lunch saturated in turquoise blues or a sunset dinner, the scenery is unparalleled. I recommend arriving 30 minutes early just to walk the grounds and take photos by the outrigger canoes. The level of detail here is incredible. The menu literally lists the name of the fisherman who caught your fish that morning. I only had a mai tail. The octopus and lobster bisque and all were extremely tasty, loved it. You'll need to book reservations well in advance but you may be lucky and score a bar seat around 2 or so like I did. The service is "Old Hawaii" at its finest: professional, intuitive, and genuinely warm. Despite how busy they are, the pacing never feels rushed. Both bartenders were great!!

TLDR: This place is mid. The food is good but not exceptional. Entrees are super overpriced, and this place is crazy overhyped imo. The curry was good, kanpachi was ok imo but my partner enjoyed it. Crab cakes were also good but nothing out of the ordinary. Basically, this place is incredibly mid for what you pay for. Staff were generally kind though. Would skip this place in your itinerary unless you don’t care about overpaying for a meal. Reservations are also notoriously difficult to get, but we were able to snag a reso a day before since people often cancel last minute!

Words cannot express fully how this was one of the best dining experiences of my life. My wife and I felt so lucky to snag a lunch reservation for our Babymoon, and we were so grateful for Mama’s seating us at such an amazing table with an amazing view. We could see the waves crash, fun wildlife like lizards, and the beach in front of Mama’s had a beached turtle! There was a monk seal the day prior. The food and drinks were all intentional and cooked to perfection. I especially enjoyed the tropical cocktails on menu and the perfect dirty martini. Also, shout out to the octopus appetizer. It melts in your mouth when you eat it and isn’t rubbery at all. We loved our entrees. And the pearl dessert is a must! We were also grateful for the personal touches of a message on the table and the willingness of our server to answer our questions and to share about the history and architecture of the place. Everything here is purposeful and at the same time you might not even notice it since it is so effortless.

Mama’s is on everyone’s list for Maui, but you have to book months in advance. The servers are attentive and friendly. the food itself is really tasty, we had the curry dish, and the stuffed fish, both excellent, but for $80 per dish…it’s a bit ridiculous. The drinks are fun and well made, but again >$20 per drink is even steep for someone who frequents the bay area. overall, it’s worth it to go only once for me. the ambiance is lovely, especially on a nice day. for 2 people, be prepared to spend >$200
