I finally tried Mama’s Fish House after hearing so many good things, so me and my boyfriend decided to check it out. The ahi poisson cru is definitely a must try if you plan on eating here super fresh and flavorful. We also tried their cocktails, the Celebration Punch and the Strawberry Guava Fizz, and both were really good.
For the main dish, we ordered the $78 Hawaiian Kanpachi with crab and lobster in a macadamia nut crust. I was a little disappointed because for the price, the portion was really small especially the rice. I’m not sure why they served such a tiny amount. The fish itself was okay, not bad, just not as impressive as I expected for the price.
The dessert was my favorite part! We ordered the Black Pearl, and I absolutely loved it. The overall experience was nice, and our server was very friendly and explained everything really well.
Would I go back? Honestly, no. It’s great to try once for the experience, but not something I’d return to even though the food was good.

Outstanding experience in every sense of the word. From the moment we arrived, everyone — from the valet to the servers – was warm and hospitable. The level of customer service was consistent and impressive throughout the entire visit.
The setting is beautiful and every dish was thoughtfully prepared and delicious. You can truly feel the attention to detail in everything they do.
I can absolutely see why this restaurant is considered the best in Maui — it certainly has my vote. I would highly recommend to anyone visiting the island.

Mama’s Fish House is one of the most unforgettable dining experiences on Maui.
Set oceanfront on a sandy cove, the restaurant offers stunning views and a lush tropical atmosphere that immediately feels special.
The seafood is exceptional, sourced daily from local fishermen and prepared with vibrant, thoughtful flavors. Standout dishes include the macadamia-crusted crab cakes, the mahi mahi curry and shrimp wontons.
The service was warm and attentive, the attention to detail was impressive.
We tried the Polynesian black pearl and chiffon cake which were memorable highlights. Reservations are absolutely essential, as the restaurant books far in advance, but it’s well worth planning ahead for a truly special night out.

Wow, such a wonderful experience here. The food was very tasty and had the best tasting piña coladas here. The service was amazing! They have it down to a fine tuned system. The waiter and other staff were very nice, friendly and provided a lovely experience for our first time here. It is pricey but a great experience and found it worth it. Will definitely go back.

Just finished a 5 day trip to Maui w my wife and this was an absolute highlight.
One of the tougher reservations to get, booked ours far in advance, expectations were high — i was worried.
After eating here & experiencing the service,
I now understand what the hype is about.
You can see this isn’t just a restaurant , it’s an institution & has this refined confidence about them — been here for years, they have perfected the service & food offering.
Complimentary valet, a beautiful private beach, and a great ratio of staff to guests.
My wife, 25 weeks pregnant & eats plant based, had many options curated for her & i can genuinely say, being from California where vegan food is plentiful, she’s never had more options at a traditionally seafood heavy restaurant than she did at mamas. 3 different entree’s, custom & thoughtful adjustments — our server maile made us feel comfortable from the minute we sat down.
The Maui onion tomato salad w/ the 18 year balsamic is something I’ll be making in the future as it was just simple & executed perfectly — again, refined confidence.
I also got the octopus dish that was well seasoned and had bright flavors to it - would recommend.
There was a hiccup in my wife’s entree & it was handled superbly — immediately took the dish back, expedited a new dish, and when it came out, they gave me a sauce to rewarm my meal as they saw i waited for my wife’s food to come out. Just awareness you don’t see that often.
I got the stuffed amberjack w crab & lobster w macadamia hit crust and it just blew me away — simply the best.
