We had an amazing instructor that was a little abrupt at first but then we appreciated the quick instruction as we quickly surpassed all the other instructor’s methods and he had my whole family surfing in no time. Fun and memorable with an authentic charm. Worth the cost. The location was perfect for us and also was home to a number of Sea Turtles. If you need to know the basics this is the place for you. Don’t waste time trying to figure it out yourself.

Sort of randomly picked Maui Waveriders out of the many (20 or so) surf school options on Maui. Feel like we hit the jackpot! We arrived for our morning session and were greeted and introduced to our instructor Noah. He was, not surprisingly, very laid back and friendly. He took us through a quick dry land session learning the “pop-up”, then off we went to the cove across the street. It was crowded, with other students, local surfers and paddle surfers. The waves weren’t very big, but I guess that’s what you want when you’re learning, right? Noah was relentlessly positive, helping us focus on everything we were doing correctly. My wife and I both caught some pretty decent waves, and had a blast hanging out with Noah while waiting for the next set. They have an onsite photographer who does a great job. My wife surfs regular and I surf goofyfoot, so he hustled up and down the beach to get get pictures of both of us facing the camera. A thoroughly enjoyable morning and one we hope to revisit on our next trip to Maui!

We had such a blast! Our instructors were really nice and great with the kids - they provided the boards, rash guards, and booties and a great time as well 💕 Highly recommend!

I received a private lesson with Al who was very helpful and made me, a total novice, feel completely at ease. He taught me the technique well enough that I was standing up on the board every time by the end of our lesson. He was calm, collected and very knowledgeable. He was also kind enough to help out my husband who hadn’t actually signed up for a lesson (since he had surfed a few times before) and helped us catch a few waves together. I had so much fun and will definitely be doing this a lot more in the future! Highly recommend!

What a fantastic experience! Our group included ages 8-60 and we all had an incredible time. Our instructor set us each up for success and we all caught tons of waves on this beautiful morning. Truly a bucket list experience that we’ll never forget.
