My family and I (14 and 11 y.o. boys) had a private lesson with Maui Waveriders. I have to say that this was one of the most enjoyable and fun things I have done on a family holiday. No one in the family has ever tried surfing before and by the half way stage we had all been up on the boards riding waves.
We were paired with Ola who was a fantastic instructor and really friendly - he could not have been better.
The bay where the lessons are done is extremely friendly for families to use. The boards are able to be used after your lessons until 3pm and you would be more than safe to carry on by yourself!
The day we had lessons was windier than average with a bigger surf than normal (visible on all the other times we drove past!) but we found this actually helped compared to when the surf died down later in the day.
Everyone at the Waveriders was extremely friendly and helpful and I would love to do this again!

One of the best parts of our trip! George was our instructor, and he was amazing at guiding and teaching us the techniques and how to best succeed. My husband and I were able to successfully ride many waves due to his knowledge and excellent teaching! Would recommend to everyone!

My family took surfing lessons for the first time with Waveriders. The whole staff was amazing from getting information to booking to surfing and getting pictures taken! Kazouma and kikoa were amazing instructors. They went over instructions and safety measures on land then they took us to the waves. They were relaxed, patient, fun and they got the 4 of us up on our boards which was the first time for each of us! Whatever your age, your experience and your capabilities, they will get you surfing. It simply amazes me. The prices are reasonable and you get free rentals for the rest of your day after your lesson, till 2h45pm (they close at 3pm). We look forward to going back. We definitely recommend Maui Waveriders.

All the staff were awesome. George was a great instructor; technical, to the point, but fun and we had lots of great conversation bits mixed in. Highly recommend to anyone who is in Kihei/on Maui. My wife and I were successfully surfing within an hour under George’s guidance.

Our crew of kids had the best time. Can’t recommend surf daddy (and boobie shack) as an instructor enough. So kind, so fun, and so patient with our kids ranging from ages 4-13. 5 stars doesn’t feel like enough!
