Had a blast; these guys are awesome! If you’ve ever thought about surfing, don’t hesitate to book a lesson with these guys.
We had Mike as our instructor and he was amazing. Pretty cool dude, too, as we hung out and talked a bit afterwards. He was so patient with our family and worked with us to make sure myself, my wife, and our kids got up and caught some waves (me and my daughter needed a little more help than my wife and son and he assured us we’d all be surfing…he was right!).
Pros:

- Easy to book a session and conveniently located
- Photographer in the water to grab some pics of the family
- A variety of surf boards to accommodate everyone’s skill level (or lack thereof)
- Booties and rash guards provided if you don’t have any
- Discounts on board rentals if you want to come back and surf on your own

My wife, her family, and I had an excellent lesson from Ivan. He is knowledgeable, patient, and easy to get along with. The setting of our lesson was great for beginners. I would absolutely return for a future lesson!

Took a lesson with Mikey and was amazed by his surfing wisdom. He taught very clearly and concisely to ensure that we had maximum time on the water. I would say that he was successful in teaching all of the members of our small little group/class. The teaching style of the program is genius, split everyone into smaller groups so that the experience is more personalized and you can learn better and faster. 10/10 experience would come again for further lessons 🤙

I had a wonderful experience with Surf Shack Maui! Such a welcoming and lovely team. I arrived a little late to the class and they easily integrated me with the group when I arrived. Great teaching and super helpful staff! They take amazing pictures as well throughout the class so you can take home some memories. My friend (who hadn’t paid for the class as she had taken a surfing class a few years back) was struggling a bit with catching the wave and the instructors took her in and gave her some tips!
I would definitely sign up to a class with them a second time! I had so much fun and learned a lot!

The best time at my first ever surf lesson!! The whole crew at Surf Shack Maui were so kind, welcoming and helpful. I had a group lesson with Mike and Santi. They were clearly very experienced in teaching and able to meet each student where they were at. I struggled with remembering all the steps. Mike helped me work backwards to gain confidence on waves, starting with me halfway up on the board and then eventually independently paddling and catching waves. I had a minor mix up with bookings which everyone helped to seamlessly fix. I even received a call from the owner confirming the fix which really shows how much they care. The photographer Kylee is amazing! My grandparents were overjoyed when I sent them the photos from my surf experience. I had so much fun! Check them out!!
