Umami! Enjoyed lunch so much that this is where we picked up our lunch to-go for our flight so we can enjoy one last Maui meal en-route home.
Tried an array of food here:
- fish sando: the fish was crispy, yet juicy on the inside, and it was delicious on the brioche bun.
- mochiko chicken: flavorful, tender, and crispy. We had our sauce on the side so that you can decide whether you prefer with sauce or no sauce.
- pork belly: flavorful, tender with some crispy pork skin.
- Fat chow fun: this was totally new to us but we enjoyed it as the fat chow fun was more chewy than the regular chow fun.
- Dry mein: this was a tasty noodle with all the fixings. Had this on flight so did without the broth.
- beet box: simple sounding but amazingly delicious.
- garlic shrimp: so fresh, perfectly cooked and delicious! This beats any of the shrimp truck on Oahu.
- poke: yummy poke with just the right sauce and tender ahi poke.
Lucky to have ordered before the line started both times, and highly recommend to order online to get a head start if youโre going to be there lunch time with the crowd.
Itโs a takeout location so prepare where youโll take your awesome food to eat - beach side, home or some other location.

First time visiting Hawaii -- and Maui -- w/ family. Came here to Tin Roof Maui, which is started by Chef Sheldon, a Hawaiian finalist in Top Chef.
Visited twice. First time, we ordered:
* MOCHIKO CHICKEN -- Double fried chicken thighs marinated overnight in ginger sake shoyu, covered in a sweet rice batter, topped with housemade su-miso gochujang aioli, mochi crunch dime bag mix, served with cabbage banchan & choice of base. Animal style - adds garlic aioli & scallion ginger sauce.
* GARLIC SHRIMP W/ NOODLES -- 8 pieces of head-off, shell-on, white shrimp cooked in a lemon garlic butter sauce, served with cabbage banchan over base choice.
Packed it to-go. Ate both at in the nearby Kanaha Beach Park.
Second time, we ordered the garlic noodles w/ shrimp again and added kimbap. This time, I ordered:
* Chef's Special -- something that came with pork and eggplant. I can't remember the name.
Both times the food was pretty good. No complaints here.

Hopped off the plane and went straight to Tin Roof. The freshness is immediately apparent. Both the pork belly and the ahi poke were fantastic. We got there at a good time (mid afternoon), but it looks like itโs a busy spot with lots of to-go and phone orders, and a winding line out front that probably fills up fast during peak hours.
(As with most hot spots on the island, itโs best to avoid peak meal times if youโre wanting to cut down on wait times)
Tin Roof has no seating, so itโs grab and go only. We ate our first Maui meal in the parking lot, which isnโt romantic or ideal, so itโs a good thing the food was worth it.

This is always our first stop the moment we land in Maui. I'll order again online as we're getting our rental car so that it'll be ready for pick up by the time we get here. It is so close to the airport and has great food to have when you've been on a flight for 5 hours. This is a great spot to pick up some food before you hit the road to wherever you're staying.
Our go-to is always the Mochiko chicken and garlic noodles. The texture and crunch of the chicken is just amazing and there is so much flavor in each bite. I didn't know chicken could be this crunchy and tasty until trying this. The garlic noodles are solid, with a lot of garlic flavor, which I love.
If you want to avoid the wait, order ahead of time so you're less likely to be hangry. It is worth trying the food!
